Driving for Freedom: The Film is an information resource designed to help U.S. consumers learn about the personal and national benefits of petroleum conservation and alternatives.
Though a complicated and sticky subject, the presentation and delivery of information in Driving For Freedom is designed for modern entertainment audiences with full regard to current cultural demands. This is a high-energy and fast paced project for a high-energy and fast paced world.
Quick set-up (why this matters):
The United States currently depends on foreign countries for nearly 70% of our oil supply. Any interruption—even as little as 5%—would cause serious social and economic problems.(1) Without immediate attetion, our industrial mobilization and personal freedom could be crippled; school busses, tractor-trailers, snowplows, farm machinery—and especially our cars—could be rendered less operable if our oil supply was weakened.
Seem unlikely or impossible? It's happened before.(2)
It is a known fact that America's oil supply depends on maintaining relationships with countries that we consider unstable—Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, and Russia are a few of our largest suppliers.
Our dependence on foreign oil undoubtedly affects our National Security, sovereignty, and economy.
Regardless, Driving For Freedom is not here to influence how you think. Rather, the purpose of this resource is to give you the facts on petruleum consumption and let you make your own decisions.
The question that remains is not whether the United States has a reason to be concerned or not. The question is: What can we do about it?
